David Gentles Garage Conversions Scotland - You are responsible for this hole in my house

If anyone is thinking of a garage conversion or any building work then stay clear of David Gentles of East Kilbride and his company Garage Conversions Scotland.

David Gentles comes across as a really nice genuine guy, oh how wrong was I!

We contacted Garage Conversions Scotland for a quote to get our garage converted in our house that less than 2 years old. We decided to go with Garage Conversions Scotland because David Gentles seemed so genuine.
David came out at the agreed time, very punctual, in fact when I had to reschedule he was very easy to get on the phone. Even up to the start date when we were waiting on permission from local authority he was quite the communicator, if you didn't get him 1st time on the phone you know he would call back within the hour.

The problem came when he was nearly finished the conversion. We were going on holiday for 2 weeks and David was making good progress so we were going to be away when he had finished so payment was due.
Paid in full in cash. We didn't think twice because to that point he was a good communicator and on the face of it the conversion would have been fully complete by the time we came back from holiday.

After coming back from holiday I have not had any verbal communication with David Gentles, I've had a few sorry's by text and he will be around tomorrow to discuss by text. Needless to say this didn't happen.

A job that should have been complete in 7 to 10 days is now over 4 months.

The house is not water tight, there is dampness and its costing us a fortune due to 2 meter! hole in the front of my house and the missing bricks where my vents were.

Should this be like this David? Should there not be a brick in there?

South Lanarkshire Trading Standards have also written to him twice with reply, there next point of advice is court.

This isn't a post written in anger, if you ask David himself he will tell you that I have given him numerous chances to right his wrongs, but he never turned up on any of the occasions.

A 10 year guarantee, what a joke, fair to say that document can go in the bin.

So be warned, cowboy builder that after was paid did't finish the job, house not water tight, dampness, conversion not been signed off by council - If thats what you want then David Gentles is your man.
